Editorial interest 82/100 Selection signal · not a rating of the site

A free, open-source desktop app that mirrors, backs up, or syncs folders and drives between macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Landing page captured for the 2026-10-19 issue.

For: People backing up or syncing folders across drives and computers
Worth noticing: If one side suddenly appears empty, Charon refuses to wipe the other; removed and overwritten files stay in .charon-trash for 30 days.

Field notes

Jobs can be triggered by file changes, a schedule, or the arrival of a drive; the page also describes menu-bar and system-tray controls for pausing jobs. The activity log records what each run copied and why a file failed. macOS downloads are described as signed and notarised, while Windows installers are not signed yet.
