Blind Atlas turns a covered map into a travel dartboard
This interactive travel game lets you throw a virtual dart at a hidden world map, then inspect the real-world hit coordinates.
- For
- Travelers who want to choose a destination by chance
- Worth noticing
- Globe mode fixes the hit 520 milliseconds after release; later zooming and address lookup do not change that coordinate.
Field notes
The 2D view uses joined equal-area map projections; globe mode settles the surface point 520 milliseconds after release, and subsequent zooming or address lookup does not alter that coordinate. The page identifies geoBoundaries (CC BY 4.0), Natural Earth, OpenFreeMap/OpenStreetMap, Photon, and optional Esri imagery as data sources. Its globe texture is NASA’s July 2004 Blue Marble composite—not live imagery—and throw history stays in the browser with JSON export.
