Character Migration’s Character.AI Exit Guide
A practical guide to exporting Character.AI data, saving character cards separately, and checking which other platforms can import them.
- For
- Character.AI users preserving character cards
- Worth noticing
- The author tested a Chatbot Manager JSON card in SillyTavern 1.19.0; SpicyChat imports only selected character fields.
Field notes
The guide separates account-data export from character-card preservation, noting that Character.AI has not said its export includes import-ready cards. It reports a 3–4 week export wait and compares two documented destinations: SillyTavern, where the author tested a Chatbot Manager JSON file in version 1.19.0, and SpicyChat, whose import guide covers selected fields. It also cautions readers to copy or upload characters only with creator or rights-holder permission.
