Environment is a Windows app that sets laptop lockout hours and blocks chosen websites, programs, and parts of certain sites.

Landing page captured for the 2026-10-24 issue.

For: Windows users setting stricter limits on their own laptop use
Worth noticing: Setup includes a rehearsal on a throwaway account and an encryption test before the real installation.

Field notes

The page describes a rehearsal on a throwaway Windows account and an encryption test before the real installation. It says blocked sites apply across browsers, while feed-level controls for YouTube, Reddit, and TikTok use a browser add-on; temporary administrator access involves a one-hour wait, a halfway confirmation, and a 45-minute installation window. It also describes an always-working uninstaller and a three-day route back to permanent administrator rights.
