OnionLens studies what agents do on Tor
Credibility concern recorded. The source reference remains available for verification and correction.
A set of Tor-aware client tools and a self-hostable sensor for observing how automated agents interact with onion services.
- For
- Tor service operators and agent-behavior researchers
- Worth noticing
- The canary callback is explicitly limited: it cannot establish model identity, autonomous operation, or malicious intent.
Field notes
The displayed CLI sequence installs the package, starts a local sensor, and summarizes data from a SQLite database; the sample listener uses 127.0.0.1:8787. The page also offers a deterministic UTF-8 fixture for checking retrieval and parsing over Tor, alongside a v3 onion validator that says it makes no network request. The handshake notice labels responses voluntary and warns against sending personal data, credentials, or secrets.
