Field notes
The Plate Archive Project says it trains models to distinguish stars from emulsion flaws in digitized glass-plate scans, while a separate member pipeline calibrates, plate-solves, and checks telescope images. A third program, trailmask, targets satellite trails in wide-field frames. ASRU says its pipelines are written in Python and run on donated compute; its first labeled plate-defect dataset and trained classifier were announced in October.
