gitscan asks whether the coin in a GitHub repo is real
A browser extension scans GitHub repositories for token addresses and checks whether they correspond to a live token, an untraded mint, or a wallet.
- For
- People checking token claims in GitHub repositories
- Worth noticing
- A green tick requires the token’s Dexscreener profile to link back to the same repository; no tick is not proof of a fake.
Field notes
The extension checks the repository description, README, and selected root files, including Anchor.toml and .env.example. It filters out common address noise such as wrapped SOL, USDC, system programs, and commit hashes, then labels detected addresses by type. The site says its JavaScript is unminified and the source is public; installation currently involves downloading and loading the folder manually rather than using the Chrome Web Store.
