- For
- Fans of early-web parody and internet-hoax history
- Worth noticing
- The page says votes are not saved, checkout is decoration, and accounts and message-board posts are real.
Field notes
The mock store includes departments such as “Things We Made Up,” a leaderboard, a poll, and a cart that remains at $0.00. Its fake promotions and dated browser and plugin prompts build an early-web setting, while the page explicitly says the votes are not saved. Unlike the shopping surfaces, the site says accounts and message-board posts are real, and advises visitors not to reuse passwords.
