SplitPipe gives each Mac app its own route
A macOS utility for routing each app through a chosen VPN, directly over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, or nowhere at all.
- For
- Mac users routing apps through multiple VPNs
- Worth noticing
- Rules can fall back to blocking, the default route, or another VPN when a tunnel goes down.
Field notes
SplitPipe describes a macOS network extension that identifies the app opening each new connection, applies that app’s rule, then sends traffic through a selected VPN, the direct network interface, or a block. Rules can specify what happens when a VPN route drops; the page says a helper opens a narrow exception for SplitPipe Direct traffic through a VPN kill switch, while other traffic remains blocked. It also lists temporary rules, daily refreshes for URL-based subnet lists, and 30 days of traffic history.
