Upflow2x brings anime frame interpolation to Resolve
A free DaVinci Resolve Studio plugin that smooths anime motion by drawing in-between frames and upscales the result 2×.
- For
- DaVinci Resolve Studio users working with anime
- Worth noticing
- Windows uses DirectX 12; Mac drawing runs on the CPU, and the in-between model downloads on first render.
Field notes
According to the page, users open the plugin from Resolve’s Workspace > Scripts panel, place the playhead on a clip, and review automatically marked original drawings before rendering. It says the render writes to the track above at one-third speed, using RIFE 4.25 for interpolation and Real-ESRGAN for 2× upscaling. The listed requirements are Resolve Studio 18+, Python 3.10–3.14, and a DirectX 12 GPU on Windows; on Mac, drawing runs on the CPU and upscaling uses Super Scale.
