Morse Archive Lab: listening between the signals
A multilingual archive of historical maritime-radio recordings, Morse transcriptions, and the stories behind them.
- For
- Maritime radio and Morse-history readers
- Worth noticing
- Its workflow says uncertain Morse signs remain marked rather than being completed to make a fluent message.
Field notes
The homepage currently links three completed analyses: a 6:17 KPH-to-J4SC exchange, a one-minute Havana calling loop, and a 22-second Portishead Radio fragment. The project keeps source audio, Morse reading, operational-code explanations, translation, and historical sourcing distinct; it says unfinished language versions remain in its local archive. Its workflow names Parakeet for voice and parallel decoders plus tone tracks for Morse, while uncertain signs stay visibly uncertain.
