Brotes Verdes, the wildfire-recovery watch
A community tracker for following the recovery of land burned in 2026 wildfires in Madrid, Ávila, and Toledo.
- For
- Residents tracking wildfire recovery near home
- Worth noticing
- The repeat-photo workflow overlays the previous image to help match the same viewpoint; satellite readings cover zones of roughly 70 hectares.
Field notes
Participants can hold up to six zones and are asked to photograph from the same point beside a path, at least every two months; a transparent overlay of the previous image is meant to help reproduce the framing. The project describes monthly Sentinel measurements for areas of about 70 hectares, compared with earlier years and nearby unburned land, and says announced interventions are logged with their source, deadline, and budget for later ground checks. The homepage also publishes safety rules and links to a sample report.
