Look Up and Down maps the sky—and the far side of Earth
A free browser-based phone tool shows the sky in the direction you point, or maps the countries and oceans on the other side of Earth.
- For
- People curious about the sky and Earth's opposite side
- Worth noticing
- The page says GPS location and camera imagery stay on-device; only typed place-search terms go to external lookup services.
Field notes
The interface combines phone orientation with a sky view calculated for the current moment: day mode hides stars, while Night mode can reveal them even in daylight. Below the horizon, the view maps countries and oceans along the sightline through Earth; searches cover celestial objects, countries, and oceans, with an arrow available when using the compass. The page says GPS and camera imagery remain on-device, while typed place names go to Photon or, if that fails, Open-Meteo.
