YerbaMap turns plant sightings into cautious walking maps
A plant-discovery map that uses public iNaturalist sightings to help people explore places where a chosen plant has been observed.
- For
- Plant watchers planning respectful local walks
- Worth noticing
- The map separates an evidence-backed search radius from the larger circle covering all records.
Field notes
Searches can start from browser location or a city, then narrow by plant and map area; results can be ordered by evidence, distance, or recency, with older sightings loaded on demand. Nearby observations are grouped at a default 150 m, and the detail view distinguishes a search radius from the circle spanning all records. The page says complete eligible result pages stay in the browser cache for up to 24 hours; map photos appear only when the photographer selected a Creative Commons license.
