togetheron.earth: A living atlas
An independent, non-commercial atlas for exploring publicly documented wildlife observations in an urban Tokyo pilot area.
- For
- Tokyo urban-wildlife data explorers
- Worth noticing
- The 2025 snapshot covers 35.55–35.83° N and 139.40–139.95° E, a rectangular pilot area rather than Tokyo’s administrative boundary.
Field notes
The atlas draws from research-grade iNaturalist records with public, unobscured coordinates, and pairs sightings with licensed photographs and filter-aware statistics. Its published snapshot is limited to 2025 and a rectangular Tokyo pilot area; the site notes that observer effort shapes the records, counts are not abundance, and an unrecorded taxon is not evidence of absence. A separate recording flow keeps editable photo, time, location, and note drafts on the user’s device before posting to iNaturalist.
