NodeWave is a pre-release Android app for sending messages, voice clips, photos, and positions between nearby phones without internet access.

Landing page captured for the 2026-11-05 issue.

For: Android users needing nearby messaging without internet
Worth noticing: The page says photos move over a Bluetooth-initiated Wi-Fi Direct link, while voice clips are capped at 15 seconds.

Field notes

The page describes relay receipts travelling back through the mesh, and contact verification by scanning a QR code in person before pinning a key. It says the radio can run as a foreground service with the screen off. Offline maps use a single Mapsforge file for a whole country; the listed group-chat limit is eight people.
