Recombinant gives rejected plot moves a second life
An API story engine for game studios, shown through a playable town demo and described as starting with an Unreal Engine plug-in.
- For
- Game studios building non-repeating dialogue
- Worth noticing
- Stored alternatives decay by exp(-(j - scene_added) / tau) and are dropped below a weight of 0.05.
Field notes
The town interface lets a visitor click the map or use arrow keys or WASD, then press Space to talk; the page exposes a seed and controls for tau and move weight. The demonstration uses written lines rather than live model output, while the sampling and decay formulas are presented as operational. Its first test covered 10 premises, three conditions, and eight scenes per story; the site says the same model graded predictions and coherence, and human ratings remain planned. The founder describes prior work building real-time sign-language avatars at Kara Technologies.
