- For
- Android groups preparing for outages, hikes, and disasters
- Worth noticing
- The site says a middle phone can relay messages, with Wi-Fi and Meshtastic/LoRa extensions for wider coverage.
Field notes
The page lays out a sample outage timeline, from a power cut to group announcements and an SOS with distance, direction, and battery level. It describes Wi-Fi Direct for nearby phones, then a relay phone, Wi-Fi at a gathering point, or a Meshtastic/LoRa gateway for extending reach. The listed estimates include 50–100 metres in open areas for direct phone connections; the site cautions that buildings reduce range.
