Unplugged is free Windows software for tone-mapping HDR video, with a media player for files and an optional live-HDMI mode.

Landing page captured for the 2026-11-07 issue.

For: Windows home-theater PC users with HDR displays
Worth noticing: Live HDMI requires an unencrypted source, a DeckLink card, and Blackmagic's separately installed Desktop Video runtime.

Field notes

The page separates file playback from live capture while stating that both use the same picture pipeline. File support listed includes HEVC and AVC, TrueHD/Atmos and other audio formats, and several subtitle formats. For live HDMI, it specifies an unencrypted source, a DeckLink card, and Blackmagic's Desktop Video runtime, which it says is not bundled.
