AlafiaConnect gives contraception answers a voice
A prototype for young people in Benin that describes answering contraception questions by voice, tracking cycles offline, and pointing users toward centers with a method in stock.
- For
- Young people in Benin seeking accessible contraception information
- Worth noticing
- The demo labels its center and stock data fictitious; the site says uncertain answers should be referred to a health provider.
Field notes
The described voice-note flow transcribes questions in French, Fon, or Adja, then returns an answer in text and audio using material the project says is reviewed by midwives. Prototype screens also show method comparisons, offline cycle tracking, and nearby centers filtered by stock; the demo explicitly uses fictitious data. The project says uncertain answers should go to a provider and that urgent cases, violence, and serious side effects are referred to a health professional.
