Prometheus puts history on a globe
An interactive historical atlas lets visitors move through recorded political history, inspect territories and events, and follow map-based routes and puzzles.
- For
- Readers exploring historical borders and events
- Worth noticing
- Playback can pause on chosen events, with filtering by event category and an optional keyword.
Field notes
The atlas combines a draggable globe, year timeline, territories, dated events, conflict layers, and sourced story panels. Controls allow year-by-year or paced playback, category and keyword filtering for events, and saved or shareable map views; guided Odysseys and puzzles add routes and challenges. Its interface explicitly marks historical coverage as incomplete: empty map areas mean missing coverage, not that no people or societies were present. Historical coverage ends in 2024, with present-day data treated separately.
