An open-source, AI-native video editor that lets Claude Code or Codex analyze footage, draft cuts, add captions and 3D elements, and export a finished video.

Why it surfaced

AKARI's central idea is unusually concrete: an editable edit.json file acts as the source of truth, so AI changes appear in the viewer without waiting for a render. The public-beta site also lays out approval gates, local-first processing, Blender integration, deterministic QA, and a full set of open skills and scripts.

Ice Does Not Count

This is one of 1,000 discoveries in the 2026-08-12 Domain Arrivals issue.
