Etch is an experimental programming language that treats reactivity, memory safety, determinism, and termination as compiler-level concerns.

Why it surfaced

Etch claims to make reactivity a language primitive rather than a runtime library: the compiler tracks dependencies, proves incremental updates equivalent to full recomputation, and rejects unproven cycles. It also emits machine code directly through a self-hosted compiler, giving this small project an unusually ambitious technical brief.

Monica’s Calendar of Flowers

August 17’s newborn domains include a calendar that spreads flowers for Monica across the months after JP’s death, 17 years of a master mariner’s logbooks, the seconds between a modem connection and the first web request, and an Indian bus cabin carrying 632 songs.
