Robin: An SMTP Client That Can Misbehave on Purpose
Robin is an open-source Java suite combining a socket-level SMTP client, a deliberately breakable MTA, and a JSON test engine for inspecting entire email pipelines.
Why it surfacedThe client can force TLS versions, split BDAT frames across TCP writes, delay individual writes, cut connections mid-message, and replay awkward AUTH behavior. Alongside it, the breakable server injects controlled failures while the tester checks logs, IMAP, APIs, and MIME—not just SMTP status codes.
