An open-source, Arch-based Linux distribution that runs a local language model as a system service across its shell, Wayland desktop, security monitor, and kernel module.

Why it surfaced

SynapseOS is unusually specific about its architecture: components communicate with one inference daemon over a Unix socket, while the model stays on the user's machine with no cloud calls or API keys. The project is candidly marked alpha, yet offers a downloadable 0.2.9 release, source code, an installer, and a surprisingly complete set of purpose-built system tools.

The Song Resumes After the Story

August 19’s newborn domains include a Hawaiʻi road-trip radio that resumes each song after a GPS-triggered story, an offline Chattanooga recovery map, a 100 KiB operating system running Doom, and an archive of 169,588 Discord roleplay messages.

This is one of 1,000 discoveries in the 2026-08-19 Domain Arrivals issue.
