The Vernon Witness Experience & Museum preserves and presents the lived histories of Tulsa’s Greenwood community inside the historic Vernon A.M.E. Church.

Why it surfaced

The project places descendant-centered remembrance inside the church basement where Greenwood residents sought refuge during the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Its planned museum experience connects faith, archaeology, preservation, and community history rather than treating the past as a static exhibit.
