OpenMidgar: Final Fantasy VII, Without the Hex Editor
A browser-based modding studio for editing Final Fantasy VII fields, scripts, models, battle data, dialogue, and world-map assets, then exporting the result as a single .iro mod.
Why it surfaced
OpenMidgar makes unusually specific technical claims: 702 field maps and 336,736 scripts reportedly round-trip to identical bytes, while the browser reads the player's own game files without uploading them. It is still in private beta, but the combination of reverse-engineering depth, local-first design, and a built-in wiki gives this project real modding-community ambition.
