The reference follows the TIA-598-C twelve-color sequence and accepts either a fiber number or tube number, with separate handling for 12- and 24-fiber tubes. It continues the mapping across tube boundaries and accounts for tracer stripes on tubes 13–48. A breakdown-tube mode starts its secondary rotation at the tube where that tube actually begins.
