SimTether Keeps Your Home SIM in the Loop
An iPhone app that relays SMS messages from a SIM left in an Android phone at home, including replies sent from the original number.
Field notes
The proposed setup uses an old Android as a relay handset rather than moving the number or involving a carrier. Incoming messages are pushed to the iPhone, and replies return through the original SIM as ordinary SMS, with carrier charges applying only to those replies. SimTether says its archive stays on the user’s phone and messages are deleted after delivery, while acknowledging that SMS is exposed on the mobile network before reaching the home device.
