Bureau Lila Measures What AI Answers Owe Their Sources
A Paris-based measurement bureau presents TX68, a protocol for estimating which sources actually contribute to AI-generated answers.
Field notes
The TX68 protocol converts articles from French daily newspapers into plausible search queries, submits them to Google, and archives the resulting AI Overviews with timestamps. Its first campaign ran from 17–24 August 2026 and recorded 6,312 answers, identifying 119 news domains. The site reports that 72.8% of those answers cited at least one news site, while 24.3% of all cited sources were news publications. Bureau Lila bases the visible figures on sources displayed by Google rather than claimed access to model internals.
