Pubby uses the charging connection as its trigger: the app is enabled before the phone is left unattended, then raises the alarm if the cable is removed. The page says the alarm channel overrides silent mode, Do Not Disturb, and volume-key changes. A browser-based shared watch provides a second signal when the phone stops reporting, including after shutdown, but the site states that a reboot turns local guarding off until it is manually re-enabled.
