Capybara Reader, a quieter room for EPUBs and PDFs
A privacy-first reading app for books you already own, with deep page customization, offline storage, and editable annotations.
Field notes
Capybara Reader starts with files users already own rather than a built-in catalog: EPUB and PDF files are opened locally, cached for offline reading, and kept outside an account-based library. The reading surface exposes typography, margins, gutters, page motion, color modes, and controls, while annotations can be highlighted, typed, or written with Apple Pencil and gathered in a notebook. The homepage shows a TestFlight beta and describes cross-device hosted sync as a later, optional feature.
