CarWatch Puts a Raspberry Pi in the Group Chat
An open-source, fully offline car agent reads OBD telemetry, runs a local 35B-parameter model, and speaks in a family chat.
Field notes
The system separates sensor-backed statements from conversational input: the car declines to confirm readings it cannot access, then posts actual OBD values when available. Its hardware records raw CAN traffic for later decoding, with one shown session producing 2,518 frames from five senders. The page also describes a daily per-ECU Mercedes identity scan and a remote tunnel that keeps dashboard and maintenance functions reachable through a phone hotspot.
