Slipcase: metadata that travels with the file

Slipcase packages a payload and its description in a ZIP archive rather than embedding metadata into the payload or relying on a sidecar file. The required metadata uses UTF-8 TOML 1.1.0, with slipcase_version and payload.file as mandatory keys; the payload name is restricted to a plain filename. The project also publishes 87 declared test containers and describes desktop, command-line, and double-click workflows for handling the format.
