Tailcat, a Temporary Room With No Server-Side History
A browser-based tool for temporary encrypted rooms, peer-to-peer file sharing, voice notes, calls, and screen sharing.
Field notes
Tailcat uses temporary browser rooms rather than accounts or a persistent inbox. A room remains available for 30 minutes without activity, and its private-room address key can optionally stay in the device’s IndexedDB. The group design is deliberately different: the host approves members and can read coordinated group text, while files and voice notes are directed peer to peer. Calls rely on WebRTC with Cloudflare STUN and no TURN fallback, and mobile use requires keeping the page in the foreground.
