Field notes
trynix resolves package specifications against a 13-year nixpkgs history, fetches their closures from binary caches, and places the results in a browser-run x86_64 Linux VM. QEMU is compiled to WebAssembly, while extra caches can be supplied with a URL and public key; the page says signatures are checked during closure traversal. Packages need not have coexisted in one nixpkgs release, allowing combinations such as historical Python and newer tools.
