EmailAttic, the family email archive with receipts
A desktop app that combines old accounts and backup files into one deduplicated, searchable family email archive.
Field notes
EmailAttic is designed around local consolidation rather than hosted migration: it scans folders, drives, Takeout archives, and legacy mail formats, then presents its findings before processing. The site describes preserving attachments, retaining one copy of each unique message, and producing a report that identifies duplicates and files it could not open. Its origin story involves 736,312 messages spread across more than 200 backup files, giving the preservation problem a concrete scale. The product remains in internal testing.
