Kelvin Deep, a Submarine Game Where Sound Is the Map
A first-person survey game about charting an unmapped hadal trench by sonar, listening, sampling, and deciding when to surface.
Field notes
The project models exploration as a constrained survey rather than open-ended sightseeing. Active sonar produces contour lines and range information but spends battery and announces the sub’s presence; passive listening is free but only supplies bearings from moving animals. The visible browser exercise compresses this into six pings, three listening windows, and a three-kilometre search area for hydrothermal chimneys. The broader demo remains in development without a release date.
