OpenTransit: public transport assembled from public feeds

Editorial interest 84/100 Selection signal · not a rating of the site

An open-source, multimodal transit platform that turns GTFS, GTFS-Realtime, GBFS, and OpenStreetMap data into city-specific web and mobile apps.

Landing page captured for the 2026-09-09 issue.

Field notes

OpenTransit uses public transport feeds as its sole stated input, routing across buses, cable cars, trains, shared bikes, private bikes, and walking. Its architecture separates a multi-tenant API, a Next.js web/PWA client, and a Flutter mobile client, with each city represented by a YAML configuration. The Bogotá deployment cites roughly 6,000 buses and 252 bike stations; the Toronto deployment documents a practical data problem in which live trip identifiers do not match the published schedule and must be paired by stop.
