BendMac Gives Your MacBook Lid a Soft Landing
A free, open-source macOS app that gently blurs and bends the desktop as you close and open your MacBook.
Field notes
BendMac runs from the macOS menu bar and reacts to a compatible MacBook’s lid-angle sensor, applying adjustable blur, bend, perspective, and shadow effects to the desktop. The page says screen frames remain in memory on the machine, with no audio capture, saved recordings, or uploads. Automatic tracking requires macOS 14 or later and a readable sensor; a manual preview is available without one. The early release is free, MIT-licensed, and not Developer ID signed or notarized.
