Epoch Explorer, a fossil record time machine
An interactive paleontology explorer that maps fossil animals to regions and moments in geologic time.
Field notes
Epoch Explorer lets visitors move between regions and geologic periods, including a Late Jurassic view at roughly 160 million years ago, then inspect fossil records and associated events. Its tectonic diagram is deliberately schematic: it indicates which landmasses were connected, not the precise location of each fossil. The project names the Paleobiology Database as its fossil-data source, links to sources and methods, and separates observed records from the site’s own inferences.
