SaltScout: sodium advice for the drive-through
A free app that ranks fast-food menu items by how much of a user's sodium budget they consume.
Field notes
SaltScout compares a clinician-supplied sodium limit with restaurant nutrition data rather than asking users to maintain a full food diary. Its example leaves 1,240 mg for the day, ranks five Wendy's items by budget share, and marks a 1,630 mg sandwich as over budget. An optional selection reduces the remaining tally until midnight. The site says a person checks each chain against its published nutrition source before activation and notes that Android support and a printable QR handout are planned.
