Cutaway Labs: Open the Kettle
An interactive library that opens up everyday systems to explain the mechanisms hidden inside them.
Field notes
The library currently lists five mechanisms spanning household appliances, plumbing, locks, and optical smoke detection. Its stated lesson sequence is to trace energy, material, or information, isolate the parts of an assembly, then keep sources, uncertainty, and safety limits beside the explanation. The homepage also exposes a suggestion workflow with an optional email field; it says suggestions enter human review and that email delivery is not active in the prototype.
