むかしミライプロジェクト: Turning Local Memory Toward the Future
A Japanese cultural-preservation project digitizing photographs, folklore, historical materials, and local stories from Izu Oshima.
Field notes
The project’s model begins with privately held photographs, videos, oral traditions, and legends from Izu Oshima, then proposes scanning, cataloguing, and publishing them through a searchable online library. It also describes web-based permissions for reuse, visitor travel posts linked to points, a printed newspaper, and smartphone AR that would place historical scenes over current locations. Examples include Habu Port, Mount Mihara, Motomachi Port, and local accounts of water collection and rice transport.
