PermitParser Makes Municipal Permit Data Queryable
An ETL platform that turns inconsistent Connecticut permit portals, PDFs, agendas, and scanned records into a spatial, queryable dataset.
Field notes
The pipeline begins by polling a town’s listing surface rather than repeatedly downloading entire documents, then hashes raw bytes before parsing. Text-layer PDFs use pdfplumber; scans can pass through PyMuPDF and Tesseract OCR before strict Pydantic validation. The current coverage table marks Branford as live and several other towns as researched but not yet built, while the API examples include category, date, valuation, and radius filters.
