Sumika 墨花: A One-Off Calligraphy Gift
A Japanese gift service turns a recipient’s story into a one-of-a-kind calligraphy design, printed on a premium T-shirt and optionally made into a traditional hanging scroll.
Field notes
The commission begins with the giver’s relationship to the recipient, the occasion, and an optional shared photograph. A calligrapher then selects a one-to-five-character inscription and produces the physical package, including a serial-numbered certificate, premium cotton shirt, wrapping, and an interpretation letter. The listed base package costs ¥50,000 including tax and shipping; a matching washi-paper scroll in a paulownia box adds ¥58,000. The site says photographs of the work and process are still being prepared.
