WTC Explained: The Engineering Record
An interactive 3D reconstruction of the World Trade Center towers, their structural systems, observed damage, and the sequence described in NIST’s reports.
Field notes
The project pairs a written account with selectable 3D views of tower structure, impact conditions, floor calculations, and wall deformation. Its source audit cites specific NIST reports and figures, including NCSTAR 1-6D Figure 5-4 for slab-inclusive floor results. The display intentionally separates measured observations from reconstructed geometry: the continuous wall shape is interpolated, and the sequence’s 2° endpoint is a chosen explanatory limit rather than a measured failure threshold.
