An opinionated, libre-only Wayland desktop for NixOS, assembled from editable modules and local-first apps.

Landing page captured for the 2026-09-30 issue.

For: NixOS users seeking a locally controlled Wayland desktop
Worth noticing: The installer leaves a plain Git repository at ~/nixos with two commits; the page says the machine changes when that repository changes.

Field notes

The stack table names alternatives rather than locking users into one shell or file manager: Noctalia or Waybar with fuzzel and mako, and Thunar or Nautilus, with licenses beside components. The assistant setup is described as combining a CPU-run Gemma 4 E4B model, SearXNG/webveil search, and the pi coding agent; its web UI is said to run on the machine. The page also links to installer notes and release materials.
