Sway is a free macOS desktop companion that animates characters in time with music playing on the computer.

Landing page captured for the 2026-10-01 issue.

For: Mac users who want a music-reactive desktop companion
Worth noticing: The page says the nine cat characters have distinct personalities and choose activities based partly on how busy the computer is.

Field notes

The installation guide asks users to open a downloaded DMG, move Sway to Applications, grant system-audio permission, then restart the app so the permission takes effect. The page describes five dance-intensity levels and a setting to offset beat timing; it also notes that Bluetooth headphones may add a one-to-two-hundred-millisecond delay. These are details and claims from the homepage, not independent verification of the app’s behavior.
