Perspective Lab, with the cone of vision
An interactive perspective-construction sheet for artists, linking vanishing points, viewing geometry, and a box that updates with the construction.
- For
- Artists learning or checking perspective construction
- Worth noticing
- The cone radius is given as D · tan(30°), and a Fit D control is described as sizing the viewing distance to a circled composition.
Field notes
The construction uses the station point (SP), centre of vision (CV), and horizon to connect a plan view to the drawing: a visual ray from SP crosses the horizon where a plan corner belongs. The page distinguishes changing eye height, which moves the box against the horizon, from changing viewing distance, which moves SP and scales the construction. It also describes a Fit D control that derives distance from the radius of a circled composition.
